WAITLIST:  We’re a small school with small classes and fill easily.  When classes fill, a waitlist holds a child’s place in line should there be an opening.  Special priority is given, however, to active Shepherd of the HIlls church members, families with siblings enrolled in the school, single parents and children with special rights.

CALENDAR: The school follows the Scottsdale Unified School District calendar observing the same holidays and school breaks.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:  Twenty volunteer hours are expected each school year. Volunteering needs include gardening, art, music, yoga, tie dye, play, campus aesthetics, chicken coop educator, book wagon librarian, musical instrument petting zoo facilitator, wood shop helper, promoting an environmentally “green” campus and assisting your child’s teacher. These opportunities may be off-campus or done from home for working families.  We try to best utilize the unique talents and interests of the parent volunteer and aim for it to be a pleasant, community-building experience. Committees support our Teddy Bear Picnic & Silent Auction, Ice Castle Day, Nighttime Lantern Walk and an overnight Family Camp held annually in Prescott.

COOPERATIVE HISTORY AND CLASSROOM PARTICIPATION: There are endless possibilities for involvement in the classrooms and parents are always welcome to experience school alongside their own child.  With a 35-year tradition as a cooperative school, we encourage parental participation at many levels in and out of the classroom. Today, in response to many diverse family working situations, we no longer require co-op hours during the school day but parents that wish for that involvement in their child’s education are very welcome.
